The company’s first name ever was Fratelli Prada, signifying the collaboration of the Prada brothers in starting this business venture. Having started with male power, Mario Prada did not favor women in his business but it was his daughter, Luisa, who continued with the Prada business and legacy. Moreover, another woman in the family, Muicia Prada, who is Luisa’s daughter, inherited the leadership in the family’s fashion business. The Prada brand first gain international popularity in the 1990’s. From the manufacture of handbags, the fashion brand expanded into the manufacture of other items such as perfumes, clothing for men and women, skincare products, hats, shoes, and Prada scarves.

Another extra venture is the collaboration with the LG communications company, with Prada designing some of the phones for the said company’s mobile phones.
